CAPS GOALIE REPORT: KOLZIG ON PART II

RLH Comments Part II: Kolzig is staying up and square and not getting beat side to side, but has ended up getting beat on tips of late (think Wild and this game) being well inside the paint on shots from the point. A little more aggressiveness might go a lot way. However, the reason why he might be back, is that it IS easier to handle a pass to the side or rebound to the side if he is deeper in the net. It means less footwork and recovery which has been a Achilles Heel all year. It’s one step too far ahead and is no good if you can handle the oncoming shot.

…..“Kolzig, meantime, was solid in place of the injured Cristobal Huet, who left Monday's 10-2 win over Boston after the second period with back spasms. Huet could start Saturday in Boston, Boudreau said.”
