CAPS GOALIE REPORT: SOFT 2nd GOAL AND D ZONE FOUL-UP COST

The Caps did not do so well as a team on Saturday blowing powerplay opportunites and struggling to breakout on occasion. Meanwhile the goaltending was no different with a questionable 2nd goal from longer range and poor angle and a 3rd goal against on a D zone foul-up.

......"After a bad bounce on a breakout, Capitals goalie Olie Kolzig (22 saves) went out to freeze the puck. But before he got there, defenseman Mike Green tapped it away from his goalie and then lost his edge. The puck wound up on the stick of Sundin, who sent a pass out front to Alex Steen. The Maple Leafs center buried his shot to make it 3-1 at 5 minutes 42 seconds.".....

...."My eyes were totally focused on the puck," Kolzig said. "As I went down to cover it, Green yelled 'Leave it,' and then he fell. It was an unfortunate break."....

...."Kolzig returned to net 24 hours after watching from the bench against the Devils as his new competition for the No. 1 job, Cristobal Huet, earn a 4-0 shutout in his debut for the Capitals."

....."Although Boudreau would not say which goaltender would tomorrow against Boston, all indications are that it will be Huet."
